Video podcast production.
A video podcast is a conversation format that is recorded with several cameras and published both as a video and as an audio-only track.
Filming an audio podcast does not make it a video podcast. Two people with headphones in front of a white wall produce a sound recording with pictures, and that is exactly what it looks like.
KREATV handles video podcast production with several cameras, set lighting and studio-quality sound. One recording produces the full episode, the audio-only track for the directories and short clips for your channels.
If sound is enough and no picture is needed, podcast production is the cheaper and quicker route.
A single interview with portrait character, one person and one conversation, is produced by imagecouture (website in German).
What multi-camera means here
- Three angles, one director. One camera on each speaker, one on the scene. The cut is made during the recording. This saves a great deal of post-production, and the conversation feels like a scene.
- The cut follows the sound. The picture changes just before or after the sentence changes, never at exactly the same moment. As a result, viewers follow the conversation and hardly notice the cuts.
- Set lighting instead of ceiling lights. Light on the faces, separated from the background. In most office rooms this is the clearest sign of whether a recording was planned or simply happened.
- A background chosen on purpose. Factory floor, laboratory, executive floor, library. If your surroundings are part of the message, we arrange them for the picture. Green screen and studio sets are not part of the offer.
- Backed up twice. The programme runs on two recorders. Each camera also records its 4K clean feed, and the sound is available as WAV in separate tracks.
Here, too, sound decides
In a video podcast as well, the audio track decides whether anyone watches to the end. It is therefore treated as in a pure audio production: a separate microphone and track per person, recording via a mixing desk, mixing after the edit.
It also pays off: the complete audio track for the podcast directories comes from the same recording at no extra effort. With one format you reach viewers at the screen and listeners in the car.
What you receive
- The complete episode as a video, edited, colour-corrected and mixed
- The audio-only track of the same episode for the podcast directories
- Clips in portrait format with burnt-in subtitles corrected by hand, for social networks
- Chapter markers and transcript; the transcript is generated automatically and corrected by hand, with translations on request, checked by native speakers
- Opening, closing credits and lower thirds, created once and reusable for all episodes
- Hosting via ignite, a European provider, cookie-free, if the episodes are to run on your website or intranet, with access protection and your player branding. The account is in your name.
- The raw material on request: 4K clean feed of each camera and sound in separate tracks, on a hard drive or as an editing project. Portrait crops can be taken from the 4K picture in full resolution.
Publication in public directories and social networks is via your own accounts. For hosting, see event recording and video hosting.
How it works
- Preliminary call. Format, length, number of guests, recording location, and the question of where the episodes will run later.
- Check on site. Room, light, acoustics, power supply, camera positions.
- Recording day. Set-up, configuration, recording. Several episodes in one day are the norm.
- Post-production. Editing, colour correction, sound mixing, intro, clips.
- Delivery. Video files, audio track, transcript, provided and embedded on request.

Who produces
Behind KREATV is Jens Achtert, master photographer, producer and director with 35 years of professional experience and many years of experience as a sound engineer, awarded the Master Craftsman Prize of the Bavarian State Government and a state-certified teacher of photography and film.
From the first call to delivery you speak to the person directing the production. For sound, lighting or other tasks we put together a team of specialists we have worked with before for each production.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a video podcast and a filmed conversation?
Several cameras, set lighting, direction and a cut that follows the conversation, plus an audio track that also works without the picture.
How many cameras make sense?
With two guests, three: one on each person and one on the scene. For larger groups we clarify this in the preliminary call based on the room.
Do we also get an audio episode from the same recording?
Yes. The audio track is recorded and mixed separately anyway. The extra effort compared with a pure audio production lies in the set-up, not in post-production.
How long is a recording day?
For three to four episodes of 30 to 45 minutes, a full day including set-up. Single episodes are possible, but considerably more expensive per episode.
Do we need a studio?
No, we come to you with a mobile set-up. We do not offer green screen or studio sets. The room you work in usually says more about you.
Can the video podcast be produced in English?
Yes. Recording, direction and editing work the same way in English as in German.
In what resolution do you produce?
The finished episode in Full HD, the resolution in which the vision and sound mixers we use output the programme signal. In addition, each camera records a 4K clean feed, and the sound is recorded as WAV in separate tracks.
Where will the episodes run later?
Wherever you want. For website and intranet we set up hosting via ignite: cookie-free on European servers, with access protection and without advertising; the account is in your name. For public directories and social networks we deliver the files, and publication is via your accounts.
How much does a video podcast cost?
That depends on the number of cameras, recording location and post-production. With several episodes in one day the price per episode drops considerably. After a preliminary call you receive an offer describing all agreed services; travel and the sound engineer are listed separately. If something is added during preparation, such as more microphones or additional equipment, we discuss it with you and you commission it separately. You only pay for what you have commissioned.
